A PERFECT CIRCLE Announces New Bassist
September 13, 2010A PERFECT CIRCLE, the band led by Maynard James Keenan (TOOL, PUSCIFER) and Billy Howerdel (ASHES DIVIDE),will boast a new bassist when it hits the road for a five-city tour this fall. Joining Keenan (vocals),Howerdel (guitar, vocals),James Iha (guitar) and Josh Freese (drums),will be Matt McJunkins, who previously played with Maynard in PUSCIFER and Billy in ASHES DIVIDE.
Commented A PERFECT CIRCLE: "Jeordie [White, bass], Paz [Lenchantin, bass] and Troy [Van Leeuwen; rhythm guitar] all have awesome stuff going on that they couldn't step away from [in order to take part in the upcoming dates]. But all is well with them."

A PERFECT CIRCLE shows in Phoenix (Marquee Theatre),Los Angeles (Avalon),Seattle (Showbox at The Market) and San Francisco (The Fillmore) will be three-night stops, with each night featuring one of the band's three albums ("Mer de Noms", "Thirteenth Step" and "eMOTIVe") in its entirety. Las Vegas (The Pearl) will be a two-night outing ("Mer de Noms" and "Thirteenth Step"). In addition, the group will perform on ABC-TV's "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" on October 27.
Keenan made a surprise appearance during a show by Howerdel's other band, ASHES DIVIDE, at the Viper Room in Los Angeles in June, and the pair also performed together a few days earlier at the E3 video game convention.
The last A PERFECT CIRCLE record, a collection of political cover songs called "Emotive", was released in 2004.
